In 1991 Riley’s tragic death resulted from injuries sustained in a car crash; in 2002 she honored the death of her brother by naming her one and only daughter Riley while in a relationship with Russell Spencer, creator of the record label Block Entertainment. In 2013 she married Todd Tucker, a former line producer for The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Burruss made a great deal of her money being a member of Exscape, an R&B quartet famous for writing and performing a half-dozen Billboard Hot 100 hit songs during the 1990s, thus earning literally millions.
